Cleaning for a Reason Volunteer Day of Service

ISSA Canada, Facility Plus and The Cleaning Authority

Team Up for a Volunteer Day in Support of Cancer Patients

Cleaning for a Reason, an ISSA Charities™ signature program dedicated to providing free home cleaning services for cancer patients, is proud to announce a collaborative Volunteer Day on Thursday, March 27, in Mississauga, ON. This impactful initiative, made possible through the combined efforts of ISSA CanadaFacility Plus, and The Cleaning Authority of Etobicoke-Mississauga, exemplifies the power of businesses uniting to make a difference.

On this special day, 12 volunteers representing ISSA Canada Member firms will join expert cleaning crew chiefs from Facility Plus and The Cleaning Authority of Etobicoke-Mississauga to provide free home cleaning for four cancer patients. But this effort goes beyond cleaning—it’s about bringing relief, comfort, and dignity to those in the midst of their health battles, allowing them to focus on what truly matters.

Since partnering with this incredible nonprofit in 2013, Facility Plus has served 112 cancer patients, donating cleanings valued at $25,775.

“We are extremely proud to support Cleaning for a Reason and give back in a meaningful way,” said David Levy, President of Facility Plus. “A clean home provides much-needed relief and peace of mind, helping cancer patients focus on healing and spending time with loved ones. We are honored to continue making a difference in our community.”

The Cleaning Authority of Etobicoke-Mississauga is one of 52 franchise locations for The Cleaning Authority that participates in Cleaning for a Reason. Through a Corporate Franchise Partnership, The Cleaning Authority is encouraging more franchisees to get involved while raising awareness of the cause through marketing and social media efforts.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with Cleaning for a Reason as more of our franchises step up to offer free cleanings,” said Richard Miller, owner of The Cleaning Authority of Etobicoke-Mississauga. “We understand how overwhelming household cleaning can be, especially for cancer patients. We take pride in being an ally to those who need to focus on their health first.”

Volunteer Days like this one highlight the generosity and commitment of businesses prioritizing social responsibility. Facility Plus and The Cleaning Authority of Etobicoke-Mississauga, along with volunteers from BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions, Bunzl Canada, Dustbane Products Ltd., JEM Cleaning, Stewandy Cleaners and United Cleaning Services are leading by example, demonstrating how companies can create lasting impact by dedicating their time, resources, and expertise to those in need.

Sandy Wolfrum, ISSA Charities Director of Development, emphasized the significance of these efforts. “Volunteer Days are more than acts of service—they are a lifeline for cancer patients,” she said. “When businesses and volunteers come together, they amplify Cleaning for a Reason’s mission, ensuring more families receive the critical support they need. We are grateful for the dedication of ISSA Canada, Facility Plus, The Cleaning Authority in helping us reach and serve more patients.”

Since 2006, Cleaning for a Reason has provided free house cleaning services to 1,670 cancer patients across Canada, with services valued at over $590,885. More than 270 Canadian cleaning companies have participated in this mission, and today, 55 companies are actively serving patients throughout the country year-round. The goal is to continue expanding this reach, bringing the gift of a clean home to even more cancer patients across Canada.
